Azerbaijan and its changes to 104 years of the Republic Day 🇦🇿 (English version 🇬🇧)

May 28, 1918 was not just another day in the life of Azerbaijanis, that day the National Council of Azerbaijan declared its independence under the official name of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, a process known as its Republic Day.

The territory was a pioneer in the area in becoming the first secular state as well as one of the first, long before even some Central European countries, to grant women the right to vote. In cultural matters, the nation of Azerbaijan was also the one that had its first theater, opera and its first ballet in the Muslim East.

Although Azerbaijan, as this note says, proclaimed its Republic Day in 1918, its full independence came on October 18, 1991 after the fall of the USSR. In 1993 Heydar Aliyev, one of the founding fathers of the Republic, won the presidential elections with 98.8% of the votes and the Azerbaijani people strongly began to forge their identity by placing trust in their leader, following his legacy from 2003 his son and current President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
