Emancipation Day of the Kingdom of Tonga 🇹🇴 (English version)

In 1900 the Kingdom of Tonga became a British protectorate but on June 4, 1970, under the mandate of Queen Salote Tupou III, the nation obtained emancipation due to the fact that it concluded its friendship treaty with the British Empire and stopped be administrator for him. That same year it became an active member of the Commonwealth of Nations and joined the UN in 1999. Tonga is the only sovereign monarchy of the island nations of the Pacific Ocean as well as the only one that avoided European colonization. In conclusion, June 4 is their emancipation day and not their independence, since this kingdom was not colonized.
